The Indelible Spirit

Trees lit with colored fairies,

Doors that never locked.

Windows fogged with exhaled sighs,

Ovens that never cooled.

Aprons smiled with cockeyed bows,

Platters that never emptied.

Presents glinted with knotted strings,

Arms that never strayed.

These are the days when time is spent

With fast-run clocks in full lament.

Advise us all to stop and say,

You and we and I must stay

Forever in these fleeting movements be

The ones who love, and learn to free

Our hearts and minds from long days past,

And remind ourselves, it will always last.
